Eftychia is a creative and interdisciplinary storyteller; fascinated about the era of digital media, technology and the internet. She explores different mediums through which she can tell her stories and communicate with people. In the last years, the nature of her work focuses around a range of animation techniques, stop-motion/claymation, digital 2D & 3D and pixilation, as well as experimental video art and audiovisual installations. She is interested in incorporating the aspect of interactivity within her visual work and aims to reach out to the community physically and/or digitally.
She graduated in 2015 with a BA (hons) in Theatre Practice: Performance Arts from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and then went on to complete a one-year intensive course in 3D Animation & VFX at Yafka School in Athens, and a short course in Creative Writing provided by the Wesleyan University via Coursera.
She has been working professionally as an Animator in advertising and creative production since 2015.
She has created three short films, Achromatic (2015), -opsia (2020) and UNboxing (2021). Her short animation films have been officially selected for screening at international festivals, such as Animasyros (2020), Chaniartoon (2020), Balkan Can Kino (2021), Animation Marathon (2016), Athens Animfest (2017), Indie Wise Festival (2017). In 2019 she participated in the 9th Video Dance Project hosted by the Athens School of Fine Arts, with the site-specific performative installation “Per-astikoi” (Passers-by).
At the moment, Eftychia works as an Animator & Illustrator at a post production studio in Athens. At the same time she is an MA student in the "Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age" program at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of Ionian University. Currently she is working on her thesis researching ephemeral art and play, and she is developing an interactive audiovisual installation inspired by the self-organising society of bees.
